Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in g minor op. 67

In the summer of 2013 the violinist Ilya Gringolts and the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra introduced Weinberg's Violin Concerto in Schwarzenberg and at the Bregenz Festival, creating great enthusiasm. There followed two CD recordings of the impressive Violin Concerto: a recording with the violinist Linus Roth and the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under the direction of Mikhel Kütson (issued by Challenge Classics, summer 2014) as well as a recording with Ilya Gringolts and the Warsaw National Philharmonic under the direction of Jacek Kaspszyk (will be issued end of 2014 / beginning of 2015). Weinberg composed instrumental concertos for violoncello, violin, flute, trumpet and clarinet, but, surprisingly, none for his own instrument, the piano.
