Cachucha–Galopp op. 97

The "Cachucha Gallop" was first performed on 7 August 1837 in the Goldene Birn Inn in Vienna. The Cachucha was a very popular Spanish dance at that time. The original score of this canter, which is kept at the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna, bears the following note: "One hour before the opening of the ball (... 'Floras Freuden-Feier', 1837), this canter was composed by Johann Strauss, executed (performed) without rehearsal by the copyist copyist, extraordinarily applauded and repeated three times".
