Profound Utterances

Profound Utterances: Music for Solo Bassoon is a suite of five somewhat whimsical character pieces that were written as a 60th birthday present for my friend and teacher, the American composer Robert Moevs. Roughly speaking, the first is a prelude; the second, a scherzo; the third, a song; the fourth, a waltz; and the last, a toccata.The fist performance was given by Arthur Weisberg at Skinner Recital Hall, Vassar College, on February 17, 1982.
